You would never know from my sarmacastic response I managed a recording studio for almost 10 years. The BF at the time (whom I was with -- and partnered with at the studio -- for 5 of those years) used to test me on microphones and the like... daily. So I think I now have a mental block about stuff like that, like my brain won't let me process it anymore...

I learned how to clean the 24-track (Studer), what some of the outboard gear was all about, the Neve board, blah blah blah (and I even helped him build one incarnation of the studio). But it's not that I don't give a fuck anymore.

It's more that I don't care.

I'm watching Wilco: Ashes of American Flags on the Sundance Channel and maaaaaaaan, Nels Cline is a shithot guitar player. I knew that was his reputation and there are some nice solos here and there on the two studio records he's on, but those being laid back, he didn't get too many chances to really cut loose. But in these shows, playing their more rocking numbers... WOW. You honestly just feel like you should bow at his knees Wayne & Garth style and plead "We're not worthy!" Jeez Louise, he's terrific.
