U.S. to increase size of army

Change you can believe in.

not that i agree, but he is only keeping a campaign promise (to expand the # of troops in afghanistan).   one of the reasons it drives me crazy that the republicans keep accusing him of cutting funding for defense (not true- he's increased that too) and ignoring the military.  they even lie about the shit he's doing WRONG.

No, Barack Obama is actually increasing the number of personnel in the Army. Yes, this will take some pressure off of the strains caused by Afghanistan and Iraq, but the end result is a larger military apparatus.

Well, he did promise to expand the military by around 100,000 troops.

Oh, but not from behind podiums where he spun his rhetorical gold. Different audience. Play to the crowd.

beat me again...

Well...not exactly. I was referring to his promise to expand the U.S. military if elected president. The 22,000 is only one fifth of what he promised.

This reminds me. I must return to the subject of the Iranian election and the tragic misunderstanding that resulted from my post concerning "U.S. involvement" there.

At that time I was accused of being a conspiracy theorist! You can bet that I was offended then, too.

I don't think I quite meant to call you a conspiracy theorist (though I may have skirted right up to that). But you sure did seem to be implying that the election, or more accurately, the manner in which it was being framed for debate in the US was being arranged to suit US foreign policy needs.
