It was so good that I could be bothered to keep on filming.

My Rebel t-shirt made me feel like a big time celebrity. The keyboardist/drum programmer was walking out of L'Esco as we were entering (or descending into) and he chatted me up about it and how great Ben Wallers music was. Later I came out of the bathroom and the vocalist gave me the same treatment, telling me about how they gigged with The Rebel in France and how amazing their three-piece line-up is now. Suddenly a stall opened up and the short, pudgy guitarist emerged and gave me two big thumbs-up upon seeing my shirt. Other people from the audience chatted me up later, including this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slim_Twig, with whom I spoke at length. Already checked out his myspace, did not know he had a massive Wikipedia page. Really nice guy. Apparently he played a show in Montreal a night earlier and he and his band stayed for Cheveu. I wonder if he checked out ganesha like he said he would.

Yeah, I'm not so sure I'd have a full-on convo with a total stranger just because I liked their shirt. But maybe I would. I certainly would've when I was younger.

About Slim Twig: He iis only, like, 21 or something (and maybe he's still in eager vs cynical/jaded phase) and people 'round here love him. I have the Derelict Dialect and Vernacular Violence EPs, Matt, if you're interested. (And if I can figure out how to zip 'em, or whatever. )

Yeah, he was really swell to talk to. Shook his hand and the exchanged a "Matthew" for a "Max" and then launched into a discussion of our mutual love of The Rebel, The Intelligence, Country Teasers, Cheveu, no wave, art punk, etc. I dug a few tracks on his myspace. Pretty spectacular for 21 years old art student. Kinda cool that he has parents in there working on his projects. Whatever works.
