Watched Chan-Wook Park's I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK yesterday. Fantastic opening sequence, but then it sort of backpedals into a self-consciously quirky rom-com. It's nice to see him using his trick for something other than ultra-violence, though.

I have the folks coming today for the weekend. We're gonna celebrate the fourth, my birthday (which is actually Monday), and my Dad's. Plus, this is their first chance to gush over Simon since he's gotten big enough to have a personality.

Nah. As long as he can hold his head up on his own and sit with a little assistance, he's good. There's a quilt pushed in behind him in that swing seat to make sure he stays in a good position, too.

Also bear in mind that my 4 1/2 month old kid is the size of a large 6 month old.

so i got all my foodstuffs/cornhole/housecleaning/etc. done for the bbq tomorrow.  all i need to get is alcohol and fireworks.   i'm totally broke. BUT  i'm supposed to get a check from the restaurant today,  about $100 bucks or so.  which is more than enough for alcohol, and a decent start on fireworks, assuming others will pitch in on that. (we usually get a couple hundred bucks worth.)    here's the fucking rub.    TODAY IS A GODDAMN FEDERAL HOLIDAY!!!   not only are banks closed, but the checks aren't even being delivered until monday!!!!!!
