"The chief problem about death, incidentally, is the fear that there may be no afterlife -- a depressing thought, particularly for those who have bothered to shave. Also, there is the fear that there is an afterlife but no one will know where it\'s being held."

So now Sky Saxon, Billy Mays, and ________? Nice opportunity for a third, lower-wattage but still well-known celeb to hop on board this trio!

As far as I'm concerned, this picture explains in part why the last three Stars Wars sucked...

Wouldn't be heaven if it didn't. Duh.

Hey, Kurt & Pat (and anyone else?), just got a BlackBerry. Finally managed to sync my email and I can go online and check/read crappity and myspace and stuff, but how are you (or were you) synced? Maybe you never were and I'm just stunned...

Probably.

So, yesterday, big champagne "brunch" party (pink champagne with pink grapefruit juice? niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice) with the ladies at some rich woman's house, then off to the Dyke March. Only... we missed the march. Not because we were late (we weren't), but because the gals wanted to get to the beer garden "early." Pretty fun overall, though, as expected, I was home by about 5:30pm, and fairly drunked already. The usual suspects were there, but happy surprise that my friend Foster showed (she's the one I've mentioned before who tours with The Stones, Metallica, etc.). Mostly catching up -- I only see the lesbos a couple times a year for lazy reasons, I guess -- so that was purty nice.

Here's a pic of my old friend, Stace (the cop...and not the only faux-hawk in the room either, obvs) and I...looks like a plant is growing out of my head. And one of her belt buckle....................... WHICH IS ALSO A BEER OPENER. OMG! Could there be a more perfect belt buckle?

There were also a lot of Pride flag-coloured jello shooters left (wouldn't have been if I'd been drinking them too Wink ), so we took them outside to give out to the gays en route to the park. Here's another one of Stace as we were leaving rich lady's condo...

Once we got to the park, there was a whole area for only women and trans folk (and their kids). (Like this "gal" in the short skirt and cowboy boots.) Friday night was the first-ever Trans March here. The idea of this, and the Dyke March vs. the more general Pride Parade, which was today, is much more political, about safety for women and the transgendered, and for inclusiveness (transgendered* may be included in the LGBT tag, but that doesn't mean they've necessarily been well represented before -- and in a city of 2.5 million, they do exist).

*vs transvestites/drag, but I'm sure all y'all know that.

Here's just a miscellaneous phone photo of people I don't know, at the beer garden. Note the garbage. (Day 7 today of the garbage strike. Awesome. That site was pretty contained, as they get private contractors to clean up anyway.)

Finally, The Hudson Bay Company (North America's oldest commercial company -- now department store chain, etc. -- and typically considered fairly conservative) flying the pride flags. More businesses than ever (including staid banks and investment companies) are courting the gay dollar.

Read in the Globe & Mail about Chardonngay. For real.
