He used to be called Snoop Doggy Dogg for the first year or so of his career. Then he shortened it.

They fixed him up a lounge on that DIY Network show Man Caves the other day. The striking thing wasn't what they came up with, but how he'd been chilling before. Until they got to him, Snoop Dogg's hangout behind his mansion was a hardware store out-building about the size of a large closet. It had a big screen tv, some plastic lawn chairs, and a window a/c unit.

It's about 50 seconds into this clip:

Most of the concerts tonight are "indie" - as in "not particularly rocking" -

The Smell:
ANAVAN vs. TPF!
Wet Dreams vs. Neon Navajo
Laco$te vs. I.E.
Not The Government vs. Bastidas

Spaceland:
Two Sheds
The Traditionist
Line and Circle
Old Lumps

The Echo:
Papercuts
Port O'Brien
Sean Bones

Sure, Jon Brion's playing his regular gig at The Largo (will Fiona Apple show up?) and Aretha Franklin's at the Hollywood Bowl, but it's not a super impressive night for rock shows in LA.

... and I'm not going to any clubs on Sunset Strip (The Whisky, Viper Room etc) on a weekend night. Seriously.

Hmmm... there is a half-decent show at The Knitting Factory (Chuck Ragan (of Hot Water Music), Audra Mae, Kevin Seconds (of 7 Seconds)), but the place is not fun.

Please forgive a brief proud Dad moment. Can you believe this kid is barely 4 months old? He's the size of a six month old, I am told.

Just came back from Starbucks. Saw David Cross. Drinking some kind of beverage.

SO! Who you gonna see tonight, Tripp?

I see pictures like this one (of the village where Mama was born in Romania) and I think maybe we have this backwards trying to get her to move here.

Yeah, looks like a lovely place. And nice work on the giant boy-child, too.
