(clinking coffee cups with ya'll)

morn!

well out of maybe 500 or 600 albums, we're down to just 2 arguments.   Which isn't too bad.

1.   A 40's Disney produced release of Nutcraker Suite.      Its from this funny era of Disney sound production (you can hear it on the original Fantasia) where they used flange across the entire mix on certain passage transitions.    I always sort of suspected it was the byproduct of rudimentary (non)synching between tape machines.    But its just so cool sounding and weird.      I seriously doubt I'll ever find it again.

2.  Sonic Youth "sister".     This is just sentimental.  It was the first record that I sought out and that led me to the world of underground music.    A girlfriend gave me a cassette of it  (after being horrified at my superlame record collection) and I flipped out on it.     But it cut off before the end, so I went to the "college" record store two towns away to see if I could get the whole thing and got schooled by the clerk.

meh.  I know its just stuff.    and I'll totally cave before I sour the air in the house, but those were the ones I cared about.

True story.

What one record in your collection would you get into a fight over?

(or if you have lots, which one would cause the biggest fight?)

Which doesn't necessary mean your favorite to listen to.  But the actual physical slab that you have strong emotions attached to.

Its a funny thing about records.  They are mass-produced.   You can in most cases go to amazon or eBay and get another one just like it.   But I'm realizing that sometimes the unfiltered feeling is "no!  i want THAT one!"

I've kept my record collection separated from R____'s.   We don't have the same tastes in music at all, so it seemed natural to keep them that way.

Books, though, could become a problem if we break up (does the vade retro evil eye sign)...

I don't intend to break up ever.  (Knocks on wood)

(Not that wood.  Pervs!)

I was at the grocery store the other day and the in-store sound-system played both MMJ  and the Pernice Bros..

pernice bros. are getting some serious play with that sherwin williams commercial. a lot more than that gay sears ad did.

And I stored what few albums remained at my ex-girlfriend's sister's house, and I could never track her down.
