Gawd!  Why start a thread with that bit of turgid prose?

Thanky sir. And Happy Daddy's Day to the other dads as well.

I got steak n' eggs for breakfast and a whole mess of new shirts. Life is good.

We watched Los Cronocrimenes (Timecrimes). It was my second time seeing it and it holds up great. One of the two or three best movies I saw last year.

Happy Pappy day, y'all dads out there! Woot!

That thing about sport(s) the other day? When y'all were talking golf, tennis, etc.? I actually think it's more snobby to scoff at someone who's out there having fun/getting exercise than it is to play something that is considered snobby. If that makes sense. The other day, I saw a bunch of indie rock kids (maybe 15 of them -- some playing, some just watching -- in the 20- to 25-year-old range) playing bocce in one of the parks near me, and I thought, "Good on ya, kids. Even if you're playing ironically [quite possible], you're still having fun, and it's not just an old-Italian-man game." (We used to play at our cottage, but kept the set there when we sold it. Boo! I could play with the old men and cool kids, too.)

I have a fuck of a lot of fun playing croquet when I get the chance (though I play by "Canadian Cottage Rules," so it's completely improper and not snooty/WASPy at all) and I don't care if it ever was, or still is, considered a snobby pursuit, because it's just a laugh.

Anyway, that's my My Two Cents.

Now.... speaking of snobby, check out these two (Ig at left, Jeff at right) having pre-game whiskey and cigars before going to the Queen's Plate this aft. Now this is chi-chi, no?

For those of you who are not myspace friends with Trey (trompe) and/or who don't read his bulletins, here's a little interview with his new band, The Gary.

Lookit me, leading cheers.

Agreed.

And croquet is one of the funnest things one can do while severely hammered.

I agree with everything you said, Karen... Except for golf.  Golf still sucks.

It's cool that Trey is out playing again!  I'm going to check out his new band, and say hi.  Trey once did something very cool: he knew I was looking for an old rat distortion pedal, and he gave me his.  He didn't use it any more.  That was very generous of him.

I agree. With the exception of playing croquet when I was a kid, I think I've pretty much only ever played it severely hammered. Duh.

You should indeed check out Trey's new band, Dan. He's a good egg, too, I agree.
