I'm not figuring you guys for big time drinkers of trendy energy drinks, what with y'all being grown-ass men & women and all. But if you are, you might stay the hell away from Rockstar energy drinks.

rockstar tastes like butthole anyways.  (i used to try different energy drinks  before along restaurant shift.  the only one i could ever stand was the SOBE "adrenaline rush" in the black can. kinda grapefruity like a fresca. i don't think they make it anymore.  these days, i just brew a batch of double strong coffee.)

I just try not to support evil whenever I can. My big thing on that front is a total aversion to Wal-Mart. Though to be fair, it's not hard to give up Wal-Mart when the Super Target is closer and nicer. Our Wal-Mart (which isn't a Super Wal-Mart anyway) is a jumbled mess with a weird all-spice kind of smell to it. It's a sad, poor people store.

See, but I'd pay to hear those. So would a lot of other people. This is why I keep pushing that bandcamp.com thing on you. It's the new economy:  you make more dough releasing tons of stuff to the dedicated fans who buy everything than by strictly limiting your output trying to get "perfect" releases that might expand your base.

 My Two Cents

Let's say you put out a proper album, you sell just 400 copies of it online at $10 a piece. That's four grand.

Then you put out the ep/single for the song Bobby enjoys fucking up/around with. You sell 150 copies of that at $5 a piece. That's $750.

Another single with two tracks that didn't make the album. $3 a piece, 150 copies. $450.

Then you put out a 4 song ep with those Queen covers you guys have been doing just for fun. 200 of those at $4 each, $800.

That's $6000 made with no CD production costs, with no more than 400 active fans. With no extra material worked up beyond what you already have.

Just downloads.

Hell you could do half those numbers listed above and clear $3000.

Ooooh, I wish I wasn't at work right now... this is a serious conversation. I have many ideas (based on my limited experience) about selling music...

(and personally, I've been spending most of my spare cash lately on VINYL)

I'm not saying Tripp shouldn't have physical product (CDs, records, etc.) to sell at shows. I'm just saying that, in addition to having a pressed Dragoon record for his merch table, if semi-regularly, the band put out digital only ancillary releases, they could take the 10% or so of their fans who are truly dedicated and turn them from $10 a year customers to $25+ a year customers. Plus, it gives you new stuff to push to keep the name out there.

I'm a little intimidated by being the person who has to keep up with online money exchanges..

I have no idea what's involved with taxes or any of that..  Surely you can't just post something and  start selling it tax-free..
