I'm not figuring you guys for big time drinkers of trendy energy drinks, what with y'all being grown-ass men & women and all. But if you are, you might stay the hell away from Rockstar energy drinks.

While I will quickly join this boycott (though I had no plans on ever buying of those nasty things ever again - I will drink steaz or guru if I am absolutely cracked/exhausted, but this is rare, and only because I work in this gay-ass health food store), I hardly see the point in being a part time shopper of conscience. Savage will be punished largely for being a bag of shit who happens to be in the public eye.

I recall last summer (in the midst of the election campaign), I pointed out the fact, after someone here mentioned shopping there, that Home Depot is a regular supporter of the Republican Party. Worst of all, the vast majority of goods are made in totalitarian China, where most of the corporate benefits are funneled to friends and family of the Communist Party of China. Of course, Home Depot is hardly alone in this, as almost all consumer goods available in the Americas are manufactured in either China or neighbouring South East Asian dictatorships and quasi-dictatorships that were tamed by capitalist imperialism of one form or another (Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Bangladesh and even democratic India).

Rockstar Energy Drinks likely have less blood and tears attached to them then the computer I sit before now. I find this to be most distressing.

I hardly see the point in being a part time shopper of conscience.

That's a fair point and not one that doesn't eat at me from time to time. Were I more diligent, I'd look into everything I buy for the same types of odious connections. But life being as it is and me having more than enough to fill my days, I have to rely on people to bring these things to my attention. Hell, I'd even forgotten about Home Depot. (Though mostly I shop at Lowe's.)

I do wonder sometimes, too, about whether "responsible" shopping is ever really that cut and dry either. I had an ex-gf once who spent $18.50 per jug of laundry detergent because it was "environmentally friendly." Now I wouldn't know to save my life how honestly green this product was, but I couldn't help but point out to her that for the additional $30 or so she spent on this stuff per month, she could adopt a starving third world kid via a charity program and get him fed, immunized, and educated. Which option is the better thing to do? Hell if I know. This is the kind of stuff that can hurt your head.

Been reading the day's posts. Maybe someone can clear this up for me: Did someone post something relevant to the conversation about Tripp's band and then deltete it? Namely the guy on the board who's in Tripp's band?

I'm a little intimidated by being the person who has to keep up with online money exchanges..

I have no idea what's involved with taxes or any of that..  Surely you can't just post something and  start selling it tax-free..

Methinks I missed some post(s) that ...someone deleted. Hm.

You gotta be here live, y'all.
Hey Tripp, next time you're embarrassed of something, try this:

1) go to the first post with offending material
2) to the right of "delete" is a button called "split"; pick that
3) title the new topic whatever you like; from the choices you're given after that, choose "select posts to split"
4) split 'em
5) once you've done that, go to the new topic
6) from the bottom array of blue buttons within the new topic (just above the quick reply box) pick "move topic"
7) move the topic to the gossip isles

Easier than deleting a bunch of posts and preserves both you privacy AND the conversation.

It's as easy as 1-2-3.....4-5-6-7.

In the future I'll try to abstain from being an overly grumpy a-hole on the board..

I call it the Home Despot.

We got our first Lowe's in Torannah. And, maybe it was just cuz it was opening weekend and they were still not fully stocked, but when I went, it was a wasteland -- we thought it was terrible. But will give it another shot.

Even though they all have the made-somewhere-else junk I do try to avoid where possible. Being a sometimes consumer boycotter. Wink
