Hoping there are not a lot of ports.

Also hoping your stomach feels better soon, FBP!! I've been doing the Bio-K thing (like Activia...millions of lactobacillus acidopholus probiotics, etc.) and it seems to (mostly) help with my guts. Except for the occasional nausea. But that's probably a drinking-too-much thing.

Yeah, if there is anything you broads dig, it's yogurt.

Sorry, I just watched like two dozen of these clips..I am hooked. Thanks, Jeff.

If there is anything I hate, it is commercials. I would wager a goodly sum that I hate advertising more than the average person, and even more than any others on this board. Wait, cancel that... we probably feel the same about advertising... it is likely my response (physical and emotional) is what is is truly stronger. I regularly suffer from violent urges when subjected to advertising (particularly televised or played on the radio) ...and generally suffer from a crushing anxiety similar to a panic attack except that it is physical distress rather than emotional. I have kicked televisions over and have even launched into protracted arguments over them with my family. I now try my best to avoid being in the room with televisions that are on.

I kinda hate advertising..

there are a few that are able to get a chuckle out of me but overall, as a concept, I deplore the whole thing.

Anybody else here ever read any Carl Hiaasen*? He's a fantastic satirical crime novelist whose books all pretty much take a strong conservationist/anit-commercialism stand about his home state of Florida. Anyway, he's got a book called Stormy Weather where a lunatic/genius/ex-governor/swamp dweller who calls himself Skink kidnaps an advertising exec who specializes in cigarette ads, and, to show him the errror of his ways, hands him a dozen cartons of smokes and attaches a shock collar to his neck. He then proceeds to shock him every single time he isn't smoking. Funny stuff.

Hiaasen was close friends with Warren Zevon and co-wrote some songs with him, if that gives you an idea of his sense of humor.

Kurt, didn't I recommend Hiaasen and maybe Robert Crais to you once? Did you ever get around to them?

*Please don't judge him by that awful movie they made from Strip Tease. Of course it sucked, they played a satire as a screwball comedy. Stoopid.

I tried to break up with my cable company, but they gave me HBO and Showtime for free and cut my bill by 20%. So I kinda gave in..

M______ and I were getting closer and closer to canceling our cable. Then she got laid off and started staying home all day and that conversation kind of went away. We will probably cancel the Romanian/Hungarian satellite channels after Mama leaves in 2 weeks, though.

Ah yes, commercials!  Like any one who watched a lot of TV, I was quite accustomed to them, and I would just flip channels when they'd come on.  If I was feeling lazy, they were easy to ignore.   But when I moved in with R____, I ceased watching regular TV.  Without regular exposure to them, I lost my tolerance.  Now, I can't see one without cringing: all the little things they do, you know, the sudden increase in volume, the fast cutting, the appeals to emotions, the constant interruptions, the flipping between serious subject matter and stupid meaningless crap, the lame-o humour and their obvious manipulations have become so... Gah!  Unbearable!

Thank the lordy for DVDs.
