His expanded and escalated "good war" in Afghanistan-Pakistan claimed more than 140 civilians last week (of that number 93 were children) and there is every indication that his criminal foreign policy (esp. pushing Pakistan over the edge) could lead to more death and destruction than that of Bush-Cheney.

I truly despise Barack Obama (possibly more than Bush-Cheney - likely due to the fact that I feel I am expected to be soft on Obama cause of his skin tone) and I hope that his administration is destroyed in 2012 (or earlier, if possible).

The left does not support him, and I doubt that they will come 2012 - but Republican-Light Liberals (his base) will.

Matt, I wish I could be as categorical as you.  For every bullshit thing Obama does, there seems to be a few things that make sense... Like the recent imposition of greenhouse gas standards on biofuels, for instance. To me, it's not as clear cut bad as the Bush administration was.

You have to think in terms of the alternative: could things be much better?  Indubitably!  But they would certainly be worse under republicans.  I fucking hate the american political system: it constantly puts you in the position of having to defend politics you hate against politics you hate even more...

But like most things of this nature this is not a radical or brazen shift in policy made by an individual leader. Over the last decade almost every liberal and conservative (even the Wall Street Journal which is the source of your article above) newspaper was editorialized in support of an end to the "drug war". Back in March even the National Post was singing the "End the War on Drugs" song. Such actions while positive are not examples of political bravery or of great encouragement.

baby steps. honestly, i have zero faith that any president ever will appease more than a few of my concerns with u.s. policy, whether foreign or domestic.
