Simon's new nickname in the house is "Cap in gura" (Cahp uhn GOO-ruh). You know the English fightin' words "I'll put my foot in your ass"? It's more or less used the same way. It's Romanian for "head in mouth" and is basically used to say "I'll smash your face with my head." We're calling Simon that because his attempts to hold his head up keep ending badly while people are holding him. He just sort of runs out of neck strength and his head goes crashing forward suddenly. He just busted M______'s lip. She's laughing, though, so it's still funny.

He had his two month checkup yesterday and the doctor assures us he is of extremely good length, weight, proportion, muscle tone, and physical ability... for a four month old. The boy is healthy as a horse and not at all overweight. Son is just BIG. He's experimenting with crawling now, too. We're stupidly proud.

Good to hear!  You gonna nickname him Cap? 

We call Sophie "Phinou" (sounds like phinoo).  It started with Sophinou, which is a way of saying little Shophie, and then it got shortened to Phinou.

He has a lot of nicknames already. If there's one thing Hungarians like, it's pet names for kids.

So far (spelling approximated phonetically):
Matzko (teddy bear)
Dragochep (little drop)
Simonca (little Simon)
Baba/Bubba (it just means "baby" but I like calling him this as though it's a hillbilly name)
Malatzka (piglet)
Gyungy (pearl... because he's precious, apparently; also more or less a homonym for "more handsome than handsome")
Cheelok (star)
Tsutsuca (this is justmeaningless baby talk)
Bogalta (little bug)
Mamanocamindensheg (Mama's everything)

And those are just the ones I can think of today. He's going to grow up with no idea what his name is.

Side story: my dad is a fraternal twin. He and his sister were 2 1/2 years old before they realized they had separate names. They thought they were "PattyBobby."
