Nothing is creepier than a person who says "I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE!"  when its not part of the conversation at all.

That being said, I'm pretty fucking disgusted with whomever (plural) greenlighted that flyby.    Motherfucking ridiculous.

They ran an all out media campaign for a week when they were going to have helicopters at the Brooklyn Bridge for an I Am Legend shoot, so that nobody would freak.

What are you talking aboot?

"The Wrestler":

a) Mickey Rourke is marvelous

b) Marisa Tomei shines in a few scenes, slumps in others

c) Todd Barry is odd, but manages to inject some humor without bathing the scenes with L E V I T Y

d) Evan Rachel Wood is just terrible. Her scenes are gaping wounds in an otherwise smooth road.

e) the story is a familiar yarn full of stock characters and its lack of originality keep it from being a must-see sort of film - the true spark is Rourke. Make no mistake, you are there to watch Rourke.

I'd told people all of those exact things (except the Todd Barry part...had to look him up, but yeah, you're right).

Holy shit.

Of all the things you think you'll end up getting a picture of at work, a Cleveland Steamer is not one of them. But there I was, minding my own business in a local hotel I was at on a service call, and there in the back corners of the place...

Well, see for yourself, but don't say I didn't warn you.

Who knew they even made that model anymore? Chrissakes!

Oh, wait... you didn't think I meant... you sick bastards!

Hey, Pat, you are awesome in that Underground Iron Chef thing. I don't even care who wins. You need to be consulted on camera at all times. Yay!

JSG should do Podcasts, too! (she probably even knows what that is! - I assume it is internet radio of some kind)

Connecting the Dots: The Link Between Gay Marriage and Mass Murders

Contact: Robert Peters, President, Morality in Media, 212-870-3210

NEW YORK, April 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- On April 4 the NY Times ran adjacent front-page articles on the Iowa Supreme Court decision legalizing 'gay marriage' and the gunman who murdered 13 people in New York. That day the Times also ran an op ed article by Charles M. Blow who expressed concern about the negative impact that conservative media's "talk of revolution" could have on "weak minds."

Commenting on this is Morality in Media President Bob Peters:

"Having lived in New York City for more than 30 years, I am all too aware of the harm that firearms in the hands of criminals can cause. Having grown up in a small town in Illinois, where citizens owned guns without misusing them, I am also aware that guns aren't the underlying problem. I am not an opponent of gun regulation; I am an opponent of making guns the scapegoat for mass murder.

"The underlying problem is that increasingly we live in a 'post-Christian' society, where Judeo-Christian faith and values have less and less influence. Among other things, Judaism and Christianity taught that murder was wrong and that included murder motivated by anger, hatred and revenge. Both religions also taught that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves and to forgive others.

"For many citizens, what has replaced Judeo-Christian faith and values is the secular value system that is reflected in films, rap/music lyrics, and videogames and on TV and now the Internet, where the taking of human life for just about any reason is commonplace and is often portrayed in an appealing manner and in realistic detail. Murder motivated by hatred and revenge is also justified.

"This secular value system is also reflected in the 'sexual revolution,' which is the driving force behind the push for 'gay marriage;' and the Iowa Supreme Court decision is another indication that despite all the damage this revolution has caused to children, adults, family life and society (think abortion, divorce, pornography, rape, sexual abuse of children, sexually transmitted diseases, trafficking in women and children, unwed teen mothers and more), it continues to advance relentlessly.

"It most certainly is not my intention to blame the epidemic of mass murders on the gay rights movement! It is my intention to point out that the success of the sexual revolution is inversely proportional to the decline in morality; and it is the decline of morality (and the faith that so often under girds it) that is the underlying cause of our modern day epidemic of mass murders.

"I would add that if conservative media's irresponsible talk of revolution can 'poison weak minds,' the liberal entertainment media's irresponsible portrayal of mayhem can also poison weak minds."

I'm not a fan of the Predator franchise. And even though I like Robert Rodriguez, his work is uneven, even within the same film. I might have some interest in this if it were him directing, if only because I'd like to see a guy who can make $40 million look like $150 million could do if actually given say, $100 million.

I harbour a deep-rooted visceral repulsion for everything to do with the Predator Franchise. I enjoyed the original film when I was in the eighth grade, but since then I have been unable to enjoy that film. My reaction to the obscenity that was Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem was so incredibly violent I never managed to express it in words (even point form) - I was at a loss for words. Part of me wants to revisit the film only so that I can tally up and annotate (and perhaps rationalize) my seething revulsion at mention of it. I only ever managed to belittle one of the Strause Brothers (the monster/gore f/x technicians who were. for some reason, given the green light to direct) dumb enough to frequent the IMDb message board for his sociopathic little turd.

I wonder how I would react to that film now...it wonder if it were just that moment in time, and that my apocalyptic response was more personal than objective.

I hate it when Jer et al. drag me to big box office flicks.

Listening to a Bill Maher mp3 right now and... every five or six feet there is another pilfered bit of Bill Hicks...it is truly remarkable that he gets away with it.

Ah, this is oldish... he just called the 2000 election for Al Gore.
