Ok, sorry to get all heavy and shit, but I must say this whole torture debate is getting on my nerves: they make it sound as if the US suddenly discovered torture after the shock of 9/11 and had to play catch-up or something!

I mean, the notion that the usage of torture was unknown to the US before 9/11 would probably make many latin americans laugh bitterly.

Torturing is not some kind of republican foible either: it has been used by republican and democrat administrations, it's a thoroughly bi-partisan practice.  .

yeah, the whole point of the torture (seems to me) was to cause outrage and drive up al qaeda recruitment to ensure we have plenty of enemies for the future. and it worked!

I don't know if they consciously went for that... Why appeal to malice when stupidity will do?

according to him, someone is doing a documentary about the 90's Memphis scene and they already interviewed Sho-use.  He's insisting they talk to me... I hate this kinda stuff..  I hate being filmed/interviewed.  I always look fat.

You probably don't.  And even if you do, there's nothing wrong with looking fat.   On seeing him, everyone will think D. S. is a HIV-positive junkie, whereas, seeing you, they'll think "what a jolly, thoroughly enjoyable person! I wonder if he still has a band?"

but i think you'd hate it more if you weren't even considered to be a part of the documentary, wouldn't you?

yeah but .. I wasn't considered...!

But I always knew that would happen..  I guess I'm glad I have friends out there looking out for me.
From my experience though, the interviewer will only ever use the most embarrassing parts of an interview.  Or at the very least, edit things to portray the story they want to tell..  it's very frustrating.
