Apparently during the winter, the pipes to our garden spigot exploded. So, the first few times we turned on the hose this year, water drained down the wall into the basement. The ceiling and carpet got messed up pretty good. The insurance said they'd cover the damages, but somehow the plumbing was not covered. I'd have been pretty stressed about it, but between what I know from my job and what my brother remembered from being a plumber's assistant, we were able to remove affected areas, sweat in new copper pipe and install a new shutoff and outdoor spigot. All for $70 in parts and tools--some of which I can even get away with expensing for work. I am stupidly proud of being able to do this myself. It's a good feeling.

Apropos nothing, watching tv last night, one of those Lowe's hardware commercials came on with Gene Hackman narrating. And I realized I hadn't seen him in anything in four or five years at least. Then I looked it up and it seems he has in fact officially given up acting. Drag.

Dear Matthew, I don't expect you or anyone to listen, let alone beleive anything I say. So since you are only half fooled or half aware as to what has or is actually going on in this world we call the planet Earth. I highly recommend that you read The David Icke Guide to the World Conspiracy ( and how to end it) also if you are really serious about finding out about where the other half of the puzzle pieces fit. Do check out
www.davidicke.com
David is a shinning light in these matters and much else besides. He and his associates have been doing research for over 30 yrs. and some of his references are directly from individuals whom have been researching for over 40 yrs. on material that goes back for hundreds and even thousands of years. What is happening today is directly connected to what has been happening for a long time since befere you and I were even an Idea or as most say alive. It is very appropriate that you call people such as myself Truthers because when we tell the truth we don't have to write down or remember anything. You are an intelligent person, however dont expect to find any real Truth in documents which have been presented by the people whom are responsible for either knowingly or unknowingly covering up, what really goes on or has happened in any event and for what reason. The world and the players are not anything at all what we have been told. Especially any imformation which comes out of the official news reports. Good Luck, Your Freind, Erik

similar story...well not really but......
last week, the already fragile flush lever on our toilet finally rusted through on the inside so that the chain didn't have a way to connect to the lever. instead of just fixing the lever, we decided to completely replace the entire inner workings in the tank. bought a complete kit for $25. i've never done any plumbing but with guests coming, we decided to go ahead and do it right. all was well until i got to the part where you have to remove the tank completely. the bolts had corroded to the point that it was impossible to simply unscrew them. i had to hacksaw them off. lemme tell you. with only about six inches between the toilet and the wall, that was no easy feat. it took about 2 hours just to cut through the bolts. finally got everything together, working properly, but the valve pipe was about an inch too tall. couldn't put the lid to the tank on. so i had to take it all apart again, and hacksaw the pipe down...and do it all again. took about 5 hours total. but i did it. and it works perfect. definitely a feeling of man pride there. only problem... when you release the lever, the new valve shuts automatically, preventing a total flush. so you have to hold it down a little longer than normal. no biggie. i think next time i'll get the more expensive kit.

Nice work on the the pipe-laying! I'm almost to that point. My neighbor has been nice enough to come over numerous times for our leaky ass pipes, and I've been assisting. I've got the concepts down, at least.
Ughers.. I spent the night disk-doctoring my newest hard-drive back to health. It was touch and go for a while (those ugly ugly system errors like "large amount of data are missing"), but I finally got it back to behaving and ready to install a replacement cd-burner.... only to find they send me a USB version, and my ancient G4 only has firewire slots.

I've gotten pretty good at taking out a toliet and putting them back in.
My kids liked to put their plastic boats in toliet and then flush them...they'd get stuck in the toliet and i'd have to take the toliet out to get the boat.
