Changing the subject again. Sorry, just wanted to get this out there before I forgot because...this shit is BANANAS!!!!

Interestingly, the lyrics pretty much indicate that Ortho, as early as 1970, thought they were doing God's work by spreading birth control everywhere they could. It wasn't just a job - they won't stop until every woman's got some! Oh, wait - only "happily married" women. Hmmmmmmmm.

Wow. The first song is particularly... Wow.

does that hook up via a cable or is it a wireless dealio..?

The one I have hooks to your computer via USB 2 and to a tv via either component (regular or RGB) or HDMA. Newer ones are wireless. Like this one.

The gist of it is that it's an external hard drive enclosure that comes with an embedded player and remote. You can download Divx/Xvid (or even ISOs of full DVDs) and watch them on your tv. Buy a big enough hard drive and you can also use it to have easily accessed archive versions of your favorite shows. I have hundreds of episodes of Doctor Who on mine.

It is the greatest piece of technology I have ever owned. Hands down. It's how we see all of our movies, too.

This is more or less the one I have. It isn't wireless, but it comes with a 1 TB hard drive. If, like me, you're happy with Divx-quality stuff and you just want something simple to let you watch them on your tv/archive them, you really cannot beat it. If you want more HDTV level options and are willing to spend a little extra dough, buy this one instead.

Some of the folks on this board are at least as good at this torrent/divx movie/tv stealin' as I am, but I know some of you just scratch your heads. Sooner or later, I will come up with a little tutorial on how to do all of that. It's really not very hard at all. The tough parts are finding a simple solution for watching them somewhere other than your computer (and I use the Tvisto, so that's easy too) and learning to understand all of the release types (CAM, TS, TC, R5, etc.)

Still, it's nothing any of you couldn't learn to do in an evening. If you want to know, just ask me and I will get you started.

Awwww, sounds like hella fun, y'all. Yay!!! Nice pics!!

Wish I liked fish so I could agree to the yum factor. But I do likes me some corn pudding, so....

(waiting till all y'all decide to tell me it's made with lard or something)

(sighing)

Corn pudding is made with corn and Jell-o brand Pineapple pudding.  It's topped with graham cracker crumbs and baked.  Then, before serving, for color and flavor, smoked paprika is sprinkled over the top.  Yum!

I'm totally making that.  What's the ratio here?  One can corn to one box pudding?

If you want to ditch cable, just get a Tvisto and download whatever you like via torrent and watch it there.

We have cable, but cheerfully "appropriate" all of the premium cable and UK shows we like. It's pretty frigging easy.

Torrenting TV is fine when necessary, but even the ones that advertise themselves as HD are definitely not.  I prefer a live broadcast in HD if I can get it.  I'm hung up on this shit.

...but if you want to actually watch a Doctor Who Christmas Special on Christmas, torrent is necessary.

I just plug the monitor cable into the TV and the headphone jack into my stereo.

This is why we keep at least basic cable with HD. It's still the simplest way to see great quality HD.

If you really want HD tv via the internets, just download the x264 versions of stuff. Those are huge files with better compression at better bitrates than Divx. They look mighty fine. My player doesn't currently support that, but a bunch of them do.

For movies, you can always steal the DVD versions of stuff and just watch those. We download the .iso versions for good stuff--they include the menus and the extras and everything and are consistently fine-looking HD. They play on our Tvisto thing, too.

I just plug the monitor cable into the TV and the headphone jack into my stereo.

That works well enough for a single viewing, in the right situation. But my flatscreen has such nice speakers, I didn't run it through a stereo, so that wouldn't work here. And I'm not a big fan of keeping a computer hooked to the tv all the time. Plus, if you want to keep stuff archived (like tv shows and stuff) that just sucks. PLUS, you can't use a remote.

One good thing about that setup, though, Kurt, you can download and watch some x264 video if you haven't already. That's nice-looking stuff. Most of the hit shows have an x264 release within a day or two of airing.

Actually, my tech-nerd sources tell me this is what you want:

http://www.tvix.co.kr/eng/products/HDM7000A.aspx

It plays x264 with an HDTV tuner and wireless LAN. Hell, it's also a FLAC jukebox.
