My social anxiety has kicked in (plus, I am hungover so it's also hard to get motivated) and I just bailed on my friend's baby shower this aft. I feel like a bit of a heel, but I'll just go visit her and her hubby early next week or something. The guest list consists of a bunch of Toronto's newspaper/magazine writers/editors, and novelists and such, and I feel like I haven't done anything notable lately and I know I'm just going to feel insecure with nothing to say and just melt into the wallpaper. Then again, there is booze, so I could always go the lampshade-on-the-head buffoonery route, but even then, with this particular gang, there are folks who do even that better than I do. So I'm gonna hide out instead. Fun times.

I know it's stupid to deny myself some fun, but when I feel like this, it's hard to imagine how talking to a bunch of acquaintances pretending to give a fuck about what I'm doing "these days" will be fun (my only actual friend there is the hostess, and she will have to attend to all the other peeps and can't very well hold my hand or anything).

I don't hate myself (most of the time). But I've been to enough book launches and social events with these people to know that they're all very big personalities and I will end up the quiet mouse in the corner. Kinda like crappitystock.

You may be having a low self-esteem day, but I think your Crappitystock "off-in-the-corner"-ness had more to do with Ryan-time/having lots of sex than any deficit in the size of your personality. Hanging back because you're getting laid left and right is both understandable and awesome.

we got in about 8 last night.  Hung out wth Kim and the girls.. Pat got home and we watched some basketball then went out to some redneck karaoke bar.. me and Bobby did Hold Your HEad Up.. We actually got Stan  to get up there.. He did some old Rush song... uh.. FLy By night/In The Mood.   Bobby and Pat did several numbers together. the highlight for me was Maneater.
Pat also got us several round of some apple flavored concoction called a Slow Gizz Fizz.  That accounts for some of mymemory loss..
