I've got a thing with the sea lately...actually tried to join the coast guard reserve -- too old....was going to buy a kayak...but now I might be getting the boot in the next month...so need to conserve money. The missus just got laid off yesterday...she's a teacher so she has a job through the end of the school year...and then she'll actually get unemployment...so that won't be so bad.

but then i found out that her friend's husband has  a kayak that he doesn't use and said i could borrow it for a while...so i will be hitting the water...

cause sometimes whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's hats off--then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can.

Nice one, BF!  Or should I call you Ishmael?

Those are cool.  I've pretty much read the whole thing, all 20 volumes of it.  It was a bit rough at first (a lot of nautical terms to learn), but once you get used to it, it's a lot of fun, albeit a bit repetitive at times.  I mean, how many times can you get wrecked on a distant shore and survive it?

Fun stuff. A 70s Canadian band called Simply Saucer. Sort of VU by way of Stooges by way of Syd Barrett with occasional krautrockish touches.

Yeah, I have heard of them.  I'm going to give that a spin.  Did you know that their singer is a bit of a far-right religious wacko?

hey thanks man...i should be alright...i think...hope...comes down to I've been pretty much slacking for the past 10 years...and finally somebody called me on it. So now I have to suck it up and work my ass off. We'll see what happens. Got a very anal boss who expects 100% perfection...all the time. Oh well...live and learn.

It sucks for the Missus cause I know she does work hard. But at least she can get on the dole for, what is it now...a year and 1/2? ...she wouldn't  have been paid through the summer if she had kept her job...so that's a postive...the best is if she got a job for september and then we'd make out...and get some extra money...wink wink say no more...nudge nudge...

They're from my hometown. I've got a remastered DVD copy of their record (Cyborgs Revisited) from back in the day... If I figure out how to upload on one of those sites y'all always dump stuff to, I can do that when I get home.

PMAs to BF!

Yay to all who have today off. It's not actually a holiday, right? I don't need to storm indignantly into my boss's office and demand I get to go home now?

Nah, it was last month. Earlier harvest and all that.  Roll Eyes

Just noticed my (hopefully) ex stalker is on the Simply Saucer myspace top friends list. He gave me the Cyborgs disc, so guess I shouldn't be too surprised by that. Anyway, ick. I'm gonna go wash my eyeballs out with soap now.

I was actually wondering if I could start a PMA church and get me some of that "faith based iniative" funding.

Church of the Mind Atom  or COT*MA

*the T would acutally be a cross...not that it would have anything to do with jesus...but that would probably attract the people involved with giving out the fundage.
