Cool article in the NYTimes today about a '70s band named Death.  Their album is finally out on Drag City.

It's a pity Life on Mars is cancelled. It really wasn't half bad, and occasionally, it was pretty good.

aw man. i was just starting to get into that.  easy enough since it came on right after LOST.  not too bad. didn't know it was being cancelled.

If you flip an LP over, there's more music on the back side.  Not so with CDs.

Yeah, but cds make better coasters.

I agree that vinyl is for a specialized audience. But your implication that it's based on nostalgia is unfair.
If your rig is good enough the superiority of the LP is obvious.

I've done side by side comparisons of LP and CD. The difference can be striking.

i hope cd's die a slow death.  i agree with moetown.  the absolute best format is the lp that comes with a free mp3 download.  if for no other reason, i will hang on to my records (and continue to buy new ones) so that i'm not totally fucked when my computer/ipod crashes.  which is inevitable.

Life on Mars lost about half of Lost's. That's a recipe for cancellation.

They did, at least, find out they were getting canned in time to write a series conclusion, which is nice.
