Urgh. G'morning. The little guy finally had one of those "newborn baby nights." He woke up the first time at 2am for 2 hours, shrieking probably 40% of the time. Then he woke up again maybe 8 more times for 5-15 minutes at a time.

If y'all haven't seen
Let the Right One In
yet, it came out on DVD yesterday. I highly recommend it--one of the best films of 2008.
It's at turns tender and jagged-edged and I'd definitely recommend seeing it before the Hollywood hype engine starts babbling about the quickly-approaching-production US remake.

Good moaning!
Jeff, in my experience, that's going to happen a lot in the first six months, and then slowly trail off. It also depends on sleeping arrangements: it might take longer (a lot longer) to decrease if the baby's not sleeping close to his mom.

He was in a bedside bassinet, but we moved him into the grownup bed last night. It didn't prevent his episodes of distress, but it shortened them.

I am supposed to be working next Monday or Tuesday...and then Friday... I think.
Just in time for this Becky got sick and then got me sick. Last week, in the midst of putting on his coat to leave, a manager at her work pulled some lozenges out of his pocket and, with a smile, said, "I have two left, do you want them?" She replied, "Will I need them?"

oh i don't think i'd want melissa's job.. (executive director) too much responsibility. but i'd love to have my old job (education coordinator) back now that she's gone. i'm just gonna play it by ear at this point. it sounds like they are kinda desperate to get somebody in there that knows what the fuck is going on. apparently in the last few months while she was there, she hired a bunch of "friends" part time who had no idea what they were doing and the entire place is in chaos. they've let those people go, and really need some experience in there to fix shit. if i go back, i don't want to have to work 3 jobs to pay the bills. so if they are serious about needing me back, then they shouldn't have a problem giving me more money...it kinda sounds like it's gonna be a headache for a while until things straighten out. but i'm excited about the opportunity.
