At this point, y'all probably know my movie reviews well enough to know that, in addition to movies I actually consider good, there's a wide swath of stuff I like you could essentially call "energetically mounted genre trash." Taken is safely in the latter category. It's revenge porn with better than average writing, acting (from the lead anyway), and directing. But yeah, it's still just revenge porn.

If Liam had just blown a few more people to guts, I might have even just reviewed it in my bad horror movies section.

Still, it was entertaining in its thuggish, modest way.

You know what sucked exactly as badly as you thought it would, though? Bangkok Dangerous. Really half-hearted churning up of hitman movie cliches (lonely killer with no connections gets personally involved, damaged girl who might just redeem killer, unexpected apprentice who brings out his human side) with only the barest flashes of any particular visual signature.

Unless you count Nic Cage's doll hair.

What happened to the wig Cage wore in the Weatherman?  That wig looked terrific and he hasn't had a decent one since.

Not everything on the innernets is true.

You are correct:

He is no longer the "current one".

Still, it is a useful learning tool/

I've spent much of the past year filling in the gaps in my music knowledge. There weren't many new records that excited me, so I dug deep into the catalogs of the Kinks, Iggy Pop, even ELO.

So what I'm wondering now is, should I give Bruce Springsteen another go? His brand of populist stuff seems like something I might could like, but it has never really worked for me. Is there a record of his that's worth a shot or did I have it right the first time?

Back in the days when I liked Springsteen, I dug the Darkness on the Edge of Town and the Born to Run albums. I also liked about half of Greetings from Asbury Park and The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle. I couldn't get into The River, and I didn't like the Born in the USA album. Nebraska gets a little tired, but there is some cool stuff on it.

But I have shitty taste in music.

I was thinking about this myself just today.

I have noticed that he is extremely popular with the ladies...at least ones I have been involved with in the last four years (all of 'em).
