There's a snowstorm today. As of 7:30am, nothing. Woke up again half hour later to a blustery winter wonderland. Haven't been outside today, but it's real windy, so I reckon it's mighty cold. (Just checked. Currently 19F/-7C, but feels like 5F/-15C with windchill. Yep. Cold all right.) This will not stop me from walking to the liquor store later. Obviously.

Hey, Evan, just mentioned you in an email w/ Ryan...  I get there the evening of Dec. 25, and leave Jan. 4. Yay! The possible show Midwinter Fits were going to play in Fort Worth on Dec. 27 isn't happening after all. BUT we wanna know what night(s) work for you for a hang in your 'hood -- if you have an idea in advance -- so Ryan can book the ex to have the kid that night. Lemme know.

Here's a shot from my home office window... The phone doesn't quite capture any of the wind or actual snow falling, but there ya have it. The gray skies should be enough indication of the yuck.

(The Vespa in our back parking spot is my friend Isabel's. She couldn't start it last night -- too cold -- so we had to push it from her place to my place, where she's storing it for the winter. This is after lugging gift books around for three hours yesterday when I was shopping, and immediately after lugging groceries home last night, post-Pilates. I'm a little achy right now. That probably also won't stop me from going to the liquor store later either.)

OMG, y'all.   A_____'s play blew me the fuck away last night.    Best piece of theater I've seen .. like... EVER!

Each grade did a different interlocking myth.   So the 3rd graders did the story of Prometheus, which then bled into Aaron's 2nd grade class doing Pandora's box.   (Aaron played the part of "envy").      I'm ashamed to admit that I really needed a refresher.  I had completely forgotten that HOPE was the last thing in the box.   Makes it a much nicer story.

They let the kids work up and interpret the scripts, make all the (sometimes elaborate) props and backdrops and play the incidental music.

And in between each act they had 40 little kids on recorders and the big kids on marimbas and xylophones doing folk tunes from around the world.

It was insanely long for a kids show (over 2 hours) but I was thoroughly entertained throughout.    I'm a little upset all over again that J______ is moving the boys down to Philadelphia this summer.    This school is such a perfect fit for him.    ah well, I'm glad I found it and he got to at least do a year there.

Sounds a-mazing!! Perfect creative school for your creative lads...

Uh, but J____'s moving the kids to Philly? When did that happen? Are you staying where you are? I know Philadelphia's not that far from where you are, but this is sucky, I have to say.

Well, it looks pretty. But the cold is really really not fun. Remember that December we drove to Ottawa and the snow was ass-deep? Not fun. Or the time we walked to Kensington? Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! You just have to get used to bundling up, then completely overheating on transit, in stores, etc. Fun times!
