For under what price?

When ours broke, my question was about who made the cheapest TV.

NAIROBI (Reuters) – A U.N. court convicted former army colonel Theoneste Bagosora Thursday of genocide in Rwanda in 1994 and sentenced him to jail for life.

We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families, by Philip Gourevitch is all about the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda. It's a really good read, and good source for finding out how it all happened and how no one in the whole friggin' world did anything to try to stop it.

Hutus who were seen as Tutsi sympathizers were also murdered.

Somewhere around 800,00 people were killed in 100 days, mostly by machete or club.

Have a great day.

If you get HDTV think carefully about whether you want a plasma or an LCD. Plasmas render blacks better and are better for movies and filmed shows. They also have a pretty much unlimited viewing angle and their refresh rates (because of added pulse rate... don't ask) are better. They are, however, not great if you play a lot of video games or tend to watch the same news channel all day as fixed images can "burn in" (leave a temporary ghost of themselves) for short periods (this problem is not as bad as it used to be though, they've improved). LCDs don't render blacks and contrast as well, but are brighter, which is good if you have glare problems in your living room. They are, as mentioned, better for video games, too. Their watchable viewing angles are much lower.

We have a Panasonic 42" 1080p and it is a beautiful, beautiful thing. It'll being tears to your eyes on movies.

here's my favorite pic because it illustrates what a doll he is: this was taken at a seedy gay bar on a sunday night, right after i had been drunkenly karaokeing god knows what- and he still appears to be into me. whodathunkit?!

 Cheesy

Impressive.  He can smoke and drink at the same time with the same hand.

He's a geologist, you know?

LCDs are also considerably cheaper.  Plus, all the plasma TVs I've seen were jumbo sized.  I don't know if there is such a thing as a 32" or 26" plasma TV.

I guess I'm leaning towards LCD right now, all things considered.

I can't believe Dan was recommending television sets!!

(faints)

Yep, Savannah's S___ (not to be confused with Tripp's or Moetown's or Eric's! Wink ) is adorable all right.

Moetown, do you know Shake Hands With the Devil, by Romeo Dallaire (either the memoir or the documentary)?

Whenever there's a Holocaust remembrance, they'll always go "never again"... But I think, considering post-WWII history, what they were really saying is "it's ok as long as it doesn't involve jews".

I guess they would feel terrible if it happened to jews again.

OMG, y'all.   A_____'s play blew me the fuck away last night.    Best piece of theater I've seen .. like... EVER!

Each grade did a different interlocking myth.   So the 3rd graders did the story of Prometheus, which then bled into Aaron's 2nd grade class doing Pandora's box.   (Aaron played the part of "envy").      I'm ashamed to admit that I really needed a refresher.  I had completely forgotten that HOPE was the last thing in the box.   Makes it a much nicer story.

They let the kids work up and interpret the scripts, make all the (sometimes elaborate) props and backdrops and play the incidental music.

And in between each act they had 40 little kids on recorders and the big kids on marimbas and xylophones doing folk tunes from around the world.

It was insanely long for a kids show (over 2 hours) but I was thoroughly entertained throughout.    I'm a little upset all over again that J______ is moving the boys down to Philadelphia this summer.    This school is such a perfect fit for him.    ah well, I'm glad I found it and he got to at least do a year there.

sounds incredible.  there's nothing greater than kids being creative.  this kinda reminds me of the TA-DO camp we did at the museum every year. (remember the elephant masks/paintings?)   man, i really need to get back into a job like that.  love love loved it.  just hated the boss.
