Rudely Interrupted are playing here Tuesday night. (Only North American shows are NYC -- including the UN -- and Toronto.) Some of their stuff is waaaaaaaaaaay better pop music than many able-bodied/-minded bands can pull off, and they're better musicians than many, as well. (Their music therapy teacher, on bass, is the only non-handicapped member of the band. The singer was born without eyes, and has Aspergers, for instance.)

Rudely Interrupted are one of Australias truly unique indie rock acts. 5 out of the 6 members share a range of both physical and intellectual disabilities (Blindness, Deafness, Aspergers, Autism and Down Syndrome) but most importantly, a common interest in self expression through music. Their achievements, both personal and professional to date are extraordinary.

With a sound likened to Joy Division having a Gary Numan party while eating pitch perfect cookies, this band will challenge your thoughts and entertain your mind with their infectious hooks.

other videos, including their big hit, "Don't Break My Heart."

Pretty awesome.

Wonder how many people just go to their shows to gawk, though, rather than just to be entertained by some pretty poppy tunes...

I was flying to the land of bad trips

That happens to me sometimes, but only when I'm drinking first. If I eat the shrimp first, it's usually just a fun ride. What a drag you had a bad experience...

It ain't the shrimp that is the problem, either. It is where I go with my thoughts when I smoke/etc. and the frat pub atmosphere was far from ideal - I wonder how I would have done had I been in the home of a friend or in bed with a lover..? I was doing fine for a short time before I began to excavate memories and emotions and so much shit...that I quickly alienated myself. It was the wrong thing to do with people I am just getting to know...actually, only three of us smoked...one guy who is like 10 years younger than me, and my grocery manager/my boss (who is five years younger than me) ...so, the odds of me just locking into a comfort zone were not at all good. Even if I think back to some of the last times I did LSD and mushrooms just under a decade ago, I was already fostering the ALL TRIPS ARE BAD TRIPS paradigm then. By 1998 my world view was incredibly bleak...and the the feeling of youthful indestructibility and the middle class sense of stability and confidence that "everything will work out in the end" had been expunged and I turned to plumbing the depths of negativity instead...thinking of fragility, instability and the finite nature of existence.

At least you read what was happening to you for what it was and kept it together and handled it.

Most people aren't so lucky.

im at my mom's right now...kurt have you been to crissy hyndes (spelling) vegetarian restaurant in crapkron?  does akron really have red brick paved streets ?  that's according to crissy

Happy belated Birthday, Kim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You are missed 'round here.

Crissy's restaurant is on a brick road, opposite a big metal sculpture of a fish.  I haven't eaten there yet, but it's very trendy despite my absence.
