I watched Beowulf last night and I must say I really enjoyed it.
I haven't read the story in probably 20 years, so I'm not sure how 100% authentic it is, but it certainly captured the spirit for me. Maximum carnage. Grendel was pretty awesome, powerful yet pathetic. His fighting style was just brutal. The fight choreography was great overall.
Grendel did seem to shrink in his fight with Beowulf and why was the dragon's heart so small?

Beowulf fights Grendel nude in the original story, so I was glad they kept that.
The thing I find disturbing about the CGI nudity is just that it undermines the next generation's appreciation of real women even more.
