I'll be honest; it looks cooler than any other Star Trek movie I've seen.  That's not saying a lot, but...

I never watched much ALIAS  (JJ Abrams show) but what I did see made me puke. I had a friend who worshipped that show. I think he just had a boner for whassername.  I watched that show and friggin hated it. All the characters were imbued with the same sense of humor, spoke in the same voice.
Then Abrams wrote a screenplay for a Superman movie which totally threw out everything that makes Superman work (he reimagined it to where SUperman's powers simply came from his suit).
Then he creates LOST, which I like BUT I don't think he created anything really. He had an idea and some vague broad strokes. Carlton Cuse fleshed out most of the good stuff. I guarantee you Abrams outline read something like 'plane crashes on mysterious island, there's a mysterious monster in the jungle.  The first few encounters with 'the monster' on LOST you never saw it, you just heard it. And what you heard sounded like chains and pulleys being hoisted. Not a large cloud of nanite smoke or whatever it is. So yeah, Abrams totally bullshitted everyone on that one..
And now he gets the keys to the Star Trek franchise? I don't like it.

And what's the plot of the new Star Trek movie? Romulans come from the future to kill Kirk.
a. this plot has been used to death. Even Star trek has overused it and they stole it from the Terminator.
b. no intelligent race would mess up the time stream in such a way because you'd be ERASING YOUR OWN EXISTENCE!
c. if you really wanted to kill Kirk, just go back and kill him when he's a baby. Don't wait until he's got A STARSHIP TO DEFEND HIMSELF WITH!

No.

My chest is still congested and I'm all sneezy.  I got like 11 hours of sleep last night, so now I am wide awake and BORED.

nah.  I made flyers for our next show, put a bunch of them up around town on sunday, posted it all over the myspace and THEN one of the bands calls and says they can't do it.

On top of that,  .. I dunno. Some of my ole friends are acting like fucking idiots.

thats always hard to take.    Regular idiots can just be ignored, but friends acting stupid take work.

Had a nice slap of mortality these past couple days.    A good friend of S__________ was killed by a drunk driver Sunday.  Then Monday another friend's mom was carjacked at gunpoint, forced to drive to an ATM and finally released after an hour.

I want the people that I love to remain alive.    Thats my main focus now.

I don't think Abrams had much to do with Lost either.

He's becoming more a producer than a writer.
