No hope for Montreal Grand Prix
It's a sad day for Montreal's whorehouses and strip clubs .

Tripp, saw the trailer...
<--- That's for the trailer, as it is impossible to judge a movie from a trailer. From the trailer, they don't appear to care much about Star Trek fan expectations, or give a dam about the whole Star Trek world. They made the thing look like just another dumb CGI packed space adventure.

yeah, basically they're doing the opposite of what I always said should be done. Make it for the fans cause they'll go see it again and again if it's good. Abrams has said that they set out to make it NOT for the fans.

Not for the fans! If it wasn't for the nerds and nerdettes, there would be no Star Trek franchise. Fuck them, then.

Yep. And then the robot (or the cyborg or the guy in the suit or whatever) is just there and asks his name, just like that. And he defiantly goes "I'm James Tiberius Kirk". Woa, eh?

So a friend of mine gave me a review of the last newmaryjane show. He said they didn't play any Grifter tunes. It looks like Scott had a couple of tunes. Dave did a thing where he used an old phone like a synthesizer (?), said that was kinda cool but it didn't work smoothly. Said between Scott, Dave , and the new bass player there were probably 50 effects pedals onstage, most of them Dave's. The new bass player is pretty young and plays in a band called Egypt Central (egypt central are named after their high school of the same name, not far from where i went to high school, Raleigh Egypt). He said Dave had a spotlight that he shined (shone?) thru the audience and that Dave is very animated onstage like a merry prankster.. He said it was like the past few dave projects where they rely heavily on sequencers and loops. And ultimately said that though they had some cool parts in the songs and some really good moments that (my friend) didn't find much to sink his teeth into and that basically if you like what Dave's been doing the past several years you'd probably like it.

Mmm, I don't much like what Dave has been doing for the past several years...

I don't have a bias, and I find most of it a bit boring. I like XXth century chemical and that's it.

Where is everybody? You better start posting, or all you're going to get is a load of "Dan and Tripp bitching about shit" posts for the day...

What? So we can add "and then Karen dropped by to bitch about having to answer phones for half an hour?" That does sound worth it.
Congrats on the child standing upright, Dan.
