the marijuana reform movement won two prized victories, with Massachusetts voters decriminalizing possession of small amounts of the drug and Michigan joining 12 other states in allowing use of pot for medical purposes.

Henceforth, people caught in Massachusetts with an ounce or less of pot will no longer face criminal penalties. Instead, they'll forfeit the marijuana and pay a $100 civil fine. Barnstable District Attorney Michael O'Keefe, who led opposition to the measure, called it "bad public policy."

The Michigan measure will allow severely ill patients to register with the state and legally buy, grow and use small amounts of marijuana to relieve pain, nausea, appetite loss and other symptoms.

Hey, I wept too motherfuckers! It's not just a victory for black people, it's a victory for the entire god-damned human race.

It isn't all sunshine. Franken lost by just a few hundred votes. Gay marriage bans won in CA, AZ, and FL. The latter especially sucks. I mean, here America is, patting itself on the back for the strides it's made in overcoming discrimination because they've elected a black president. And here we are basically enacting new miscegenation laws.

we had an impromptu party at my house last night. someone (me) thought it would be a great idea for everyone to do little shots of whiskey whenever a typically red state went blue, or when we won a swing state. needless to say, i don't remember going to bed last night.
