Sounds like something out of a hard-boiled detective story, or a film-noir.

If I remember correctly, that's Rorschach, right?

No.   We're trying to stabilize ourselves first.    E___ is 4, so there's no way or point in trying to explain things to him.   We'll still be there, coloring pictures and making domino towers, so he'll be covered for the immediate future.

A____ is 7 and a little trickier.   Despite us being very careful to keep everything out of ear range, he clearly can sense something is up.   He asked me a whole barrage of questions about marriage yesterday at the park.   I haven't figured him out yet.    He's pretty smart and very sensitive, so its got to be done well, thats all I know so far.

Jesus. This board has made me want to cry more in the past few weeks than it has in the years that have passed. I wish I knew what to say...

Christ almighty, man. I had a nasty divorce, sure, but to have kids... I just can't begin to imagine.

Yeah, I just don't know what to say to my friend Mathew whose daughter only just turned one two weeks ago (he moved out a day later) ...he seems confident in his decision, but all I can think about is the kid.

I'm voting NDP also. Does that deflect from all the break-up stuff from earlier? I've said before, I don't like all this crappity break-up stuff on the wind...

I'm disturbed about upcoming (tomorrow) Federal election. I know it won't have any international impact like the US one, but it still affects my day-to-day... BEST we can hope for is another minority government, unfortunately. Harper (shudder) is going to win again because there are enough conservative, uptight, racist, religious assholes out there (and I could certainly be more intellectual about this, but I'm just rambling, about to go to bed), so the best we can hope for, like I said, is a minority gov't. There's always hope for more, but...

There was a website on offer via anyonebutharper.com (I think that's the URL), but it's a facebook link, and I don't have an account, so I couldn't go there... anyway, it was a link to a site where you could punch in your postal (zip code for the Yanks) to see if strategic voting (vs. actually voting with your brain) made sense in your area...

I used to think that would work. And normally, I'd vote Green, but just can't. My (incumbant?) rep is Olivia Chow, Jack Layton's wife (he's the party leader of the NDP for the Americans -- parteeeeee!), and she's done ok by me as a local rep so far... she does socially-conscious things that mean something to my community (like an anti-poverty/neighbourhood potluck thing in the park by my house), so I'm ok with her. She's pretty hands-on. AND was the only candidate to actually walk around talking to people...

The ONLY other time -- in the five years I've lived in this house -- that anyone canvassed the neighbourhood was tonight, one night before our election. A canvasser for the Liberal party. He opened his mouth, I said I was uninterested, and he immediately said, "Oh, NDP?" I replied, "In this neighbourhood? Yes. That seems like a given." And his response was "I just started this job. But I was told that single white males here vote Conservative, and females, if not Liberal, then NDP."

I'm such a cliche.
