Romanian names mostly suck. Hungarian names are mostly unspellable/unpronounceable to US ears or just plain silly sounding. (I am not naming my kid "Nimrod" or "Zoltan." Though we do have a cousin named Zoltan we like, I just don't think you could use that name on these shores unless you plan on raising a magician.)

I am kind of liking Jozsef or Matyas today.

Bonuses for Matyas: we could call him "Matt" to ease his childhood; Matyas Kiraly, aka Matthias Corvinus is a beloved Hungarian king whose birthplace, namesake church, and enormous memorial are located within blocks of M_____'s childhood home.

My school chum's father's name was Zoltan. The family name was Zavorsky.
