mccain was on tv a little while ago giving a speech at the clinton global initiative meeting.  obama was to address the group shortly from florida.  but now the directv dudes are messing with my tv, so i don't know what's happenin.  but apparently, he made it to washington.

actually, the cgi meeting was in nyc, so i guess he's not in washington. meanwhile, tucker bounds is on tv saying how ridiculous this "debate about the debate" is, because obviously, mccain wants to have the debate.  why, he's the one who's been calling on barack to meet anytime, anyplace at town hall meetings around the country. and this is a foreign policy debate where, of course mccain is expected to do better than obama.  so to imply he's trying to avoid it is ridiculous.

I don't think he was trying to avoid the debate. Seriously.

I just think this is a desperate attempt to put himself in the driver's seat where discussion of the economy is concerned. It'll work for some people too, simply because Obama is too academic/formal in his remarks on the matter to just up and call bullshit.

i don't think he's really trying to avoid the debate altogether, just playing a big political stunt, in the name of "rising above politics".  i think most people realize this.  BUT, the fact that they are now suggesting rescheduling the debate for NEXT friday, and cancelling/postponing the VP debate scheduled for that date raises an eyebrow.  particularly after the katie couric interview.
