I'd like to congratulate Matthew on the private messages he's sending and receiving this weekend.

Well, saw Mudhoney.  Mark Arm's voice has mellowed into a soulful croon.

Not.

I enjoyed myself, but I think I would have been more into it 15 years ago.

On the other hand, I really liked the opening band.  They're called Quest For Fire and they're from Toronto.  They play downtempo psych rock, which is closer to where I'm at these days...  However, sometimes a band smokes live, but sucks recorded.  I'm going to get the cd, see how I like it.  Lets see if they can go beyond my first good impression.

I bet Cameron Crowe had a hand in writing that open letter.

Mudhoney in June sure was good and I'm not even a devoted fan. My enthusiasm was only dampened by the insane, stifling heat at Sluggo's that night. ugh.

Where did that Wilson sisters letter get published?  That cracked me up.

I think I enjoyed all live shows more 15 years ago. Something about standing in a closely-crammed room and rockin' out to whoever just isn't as fun to my old self as it was to my not as old self.

I really miss being able to waste my day posting on crappity rather than wasting it by going to work.

I hope JSG and Pogo had a nice nap-filled weekend in Canadia.

I really am disappointed in how Kings of Leon have evolved. The first album I heard was kinda rough, tough, and cool. Part of the fun was trying to figure out what the singer was saying, and the other part was that they brought the rawk. Now the way they look, sound, and perform are just kinda blah. They were on SNL last night - which was also kinda blah.

Yeah, I hear ya.  During the Quest For Fire set, some young guys started slam dancing behind me, hitting me repeatedly and it got me pissed off enough that I turned around and screamed "stop it" loud enough to be heard above the band.  I got outta there during the Mudhoney set.  I felt very uncool and old right there...  But heavens to betsy!  Mudhoney and moshpits go together like coca-cola and acid reflux, but you don't slam dance to jammy psych rock! Kids these days!

Oh, and during the Mudhoney set, some guy asked me to help him to raise his friend above the throng, so that he could go crowd-surfing.  I categorically said "no".  He looked very disappointed.

I wasn't very rock'n'roll last night.
