Actually watched a little of the VMA's last night.  What a putrid pile of crap popular music has become.

But Russell Brand's opening monologue was great..!  I don't think most of the audience quite got it.

Mornin!

after being shut in all saturday with Hanna, I couldn't bring myself to be be indoors yesterday.   it was too fricking nice up here.   sat on porch, with music blaring out of a Crate amp and plenty of beers.

I clearly wasn't ready to let summer go yet.

I just bought J________ a 4-track on eBay.  (she gets a little flustered with Pro-Tools).

And this weekend she made me glad I did.     Her a capella cover of a great old Little Feat song.

We finally got our new 8 track up and running. I got a good deal on it ($75) then we found out why; it ONLY uses chromium tapes.  So we had to track down some chromium tapes but we got it goin' now. next step is to start getting better microphones and I'd say by the end of the year we're gonna be rollin' out some pretty sweet sounding stuff.

The great thing is the 8track looks brand new. Like, it was barely ever used.

I had what I thought was a zit on my jaw.  BUT it turns out it was an ingrown hair.  It was seriously 3" long, all coiled up under the skin.  When it came out, it looked like a big pube.

I miss my old otari 8-track.   we did home 9 on it.   great hot tape sound on it.

I found myself watching the VMAs last night too.  I haven't watched the show in I don't know how many years.

What the hell is Tokio Hotel?

Russell Brand did seem a bit out of the demographic, but he was a cool choice to host.

Yeah, that Little Feat cover is pretty cool.

The only semi-famous person from my original hometown is Craig Fuller who's been leading the band since the late '80s.  He's better known for his work with Pure Prairie League.

Oh hell yah.    Thats the 8-track version of the 4-track I used for years and recently died.   I loved it.   Quieter than any other 4-track I've had.

Even though I still liked to for certain types of songs, it was the only 4-track I ever had that I didn't HAVE to bury the needle on in order to avoid tape hiss.

Nothing wrong with a bit of tape hiss.
