holy shit.  i wanna go. i was just thinking today how i need to see neil soon.  it's been a few years.

my birthday is dec. 6 and ive never seen neil young and i want to go to canada and i havent had my wilco fix this year....hmmmh

So, you totally have to come.

My rich fuck cousin in Alberta could probably get some great tickets, too.

(he sees about every Neil and Neil-related show in the Northwest US (Washington/Oregon/California) and Canada and he never has seats more than a few rows deep)

Well, I finally finished watching 300 and I really could not have imagined it being much worse than that. This is the man who is making The Watchmen? Pornographic attention to detail is one thing, telling a story is another. This does not bode well.


This, from the IMDb message board for 300, did make me laugh:

Ahhhh HOO! its a great movie, but for heaven's sakes it is not meant as a history lesson. Imagine, if you can, being there as the remnant of the 300 face the myriads of Xerxes armies on the last day. They deserve to be remembered with honor, and if this movie reminds people of the sacrifice made so long ago by so few in the face of so many; then the movie has done a great service.

Do any of these kids (or adults) realize that Sparta was essentially a proto-fascist state? There was a reason for Hitler invoking their spirit all the time.

hey, pat- it is all politics. i should have said something when i was lurking, goddammit. this lady is new and has close to zero friends on the "board", and she knows she's fucked. when you sent that letter, she knew that she had to let you go ASAP to show that she had control- because if you stayed on 'til december then everyone would be aware of how integral you are and how many personal and professional doors you were closing to the museum. actually, i'm sure that everyone is aware of that in your museum system. there is no good way to leave a job that you are really great at because everyone freaks the fuck out- no matter how they show it. if you were expendable, you would have a glorious skate through december. consider yourself lucky. and right.

you're really talented, pat, and i know that you know that. i'm really excited about the next job you're going to find because it's going to be awesome. that's just how it's going to happen.
