Hidden Fortress was just one inspiration.

There's some Alexander Nevsky in there, some Flash Gordon....and some of Kirby's New Gods.

Plus a bunch of other things no doubt.

A really big inspiration.  I mean, he lifted big chunks of the plot out of it... And C3PO and R2S2.

Well, he also lifted plot elements from New Gods.

The main villain is a guy named Darkseid...who it turns out is Orion's
father
.

And you could talk just as much about all the rip-offs in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Everybody pinches ideas...but nobody got as rich off it as Lucas, so he catches a lot of hell.

But he put it all together in his own way.

Lucas also got a lot of inspiration for the final Death Star bombing run from a WW2 movie called Dam-busters.

If this Chinese gymnast somehow wins the Gold medal, I call bullshit.  She's falling all over the place and the judges act like they don't see it.

I had some shrimp and some fruit and now I'm enjoying a pretty good rip of The Dark Knight.  Not bad for a thursday!

Do you like Christian Bale's Clint Eastwood voice for Batman?

Allright, our little Russian import won the Gold for USA.

Objectively speaking that Chinese girl sucked salty balls and the judges were trying to help her.

How's Canada doing?  ANY medals at ALL yet?  I don't think so.

I know why y'all hate the Olympics.

Nope.

(Not that I'm really watching.)

I'm going for the gold medal in drinking. Wish me luck.

I'm afraid this Russian girl's dad secretly wants to slip her his balance beam.  He's a little too kissy with her.

You don't need luck when you have skill.
