How is everyone enjoying the China Bashing (with occasional synchronized diving)?

Every morning I pick up the newspaper or turn on the tv (well, I don't turn on the TV, but it is generally on when I pass through the living room) some Western journalist is taking a shit all over what they claim to be a false facade of an advanced civilized society (missing that the existence of civilization anywhere is merely a conceit). The Gazette this morning dedicated the first four or five pages to China-bashing, from the lip-syncing girl to photos of what is on the "other side" of the fences erected to blot out the poverty and despair of certain neighbourhoods (imagine we did that in the west?).

"Hardhitting investigative news journals" (i.e. overproduced and under-researched exploitative tabloid-styled trash pieces) are frothing at the mouth with every manner of criticism they can imagine. There was one program on Canadian television last night with canned Chinee chown-chwon-chown-wyowa-wyowa-chowwn-chown-choun music almost drowning out their shallow criticism of the one-child laws, a program that I believe was part of a greater journal named "Operation Beijing".

Can we expect "in depth" criticism of the flaws of Canadian society when we host the games in Vancouver? I doubt it. I have no recollection of any other host nation receiving this manner of unrelenting criticism.

I also like how the Western press managed to foist all blame for South Ossetia/Georgia/Abkhaz on Russia. Some of us saw this coming.

At moments I get the feeling Putin is reading from an old script:

2008:
Secessionists (South Ossetians) are disruptive and the national security forces (Georgian) attack them. A superpower sympathetic to the militants (Russian Federation) intervene to "protect the people".
