From the
official Ronald Chevalier website
, a viral marketing thing for the new Jared Hess movie starring Jemaine Clement from The Conchords. I haven't liked a Hess movie yet, but this site is pretty funny.

Independence Day
director Roland Emmerich's home (a slideshow)
End table containing a diorama of the JFK assassination? Check. Framed portrait of Princess Di giving the finger above a fireplace of Chuck & Di dolls? Check. Life-sized wax figure of Pope John Paul II reading his own obituaries? Check.

so his sense of decor sucks as badly as directing.

Y'know, Jared Hess's idea of direction just seems to be his sense of decor.
Jemaine could carry this though.

I've been listening to Built to Spill "There's Nothing Wrong with Love" a lot lately.
I bought that disc back in the day, listened to it several times...enjoyed it, but never was compelled to buy any more of their records.
I think I had a problem with the nasal singing...that style was so overdone in the '90s with Superchunk and a bunch of others I can't think of.
But when I hear it now I don't have a problem with it. The lyrics are good and Martsch has a nice way of wrapping his voice around some pretty nifty and emotional melodies...And then there's the instrumentation, which is even better.
I'm gonna be running to the wrecka stowe for more. Any recommendations? Perfect from Now On? Keep It Like a Secret?

the first one Ultimate Alternative Wavers is pretty good as is Perfect From Now On.
They kinda lost me after that.

I never listened to Halo Benders before. The vocal combination of Calvin and Doug is intriguing.

That first song you posted seemed more like 95% Beat Happening and 5% Built to Spill...good though.
This feels like more of a synthesis.

I really liked There's Nothing Wrong With Love. They're other albums didn't really do it for me, but then I started doing some trampoline jumping to You In Reverse and have discovered I like that one too.
I've been listing to some Sparks recently. Anybody ever get into them?
