Happy Birthday Ms. Laundry. It's good to know that someone can put up with Dan.

(was that good Dan?)

Excellent.  Except she won't like being called Ms. Laundry.  Her name is Landry, like the ex-PM of Quebec (no relation, though).

'twas a joke, dear Daniel.

Do not joke with such serious things.

In attacking John Kerry's anti-war record, his opponents are rewriting US history - and all to justify the Iraq invasion

I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind yesterday.  It was better than I expected.  It is essentially another Charlie Kaufman exercise in pushing one impossible premise to its logical end.  Pretty good Sci-Fi.  Uh, sorry... Speculative fiction.  And Carey keept his annoying self down to a minimum, which was good.   Kate Winselt got on my nerves, but I think she was supposed to do that.  Good smart flick, I would have liked a less happy ending, but hey it's Hollywood.

Finally listened to Heron King Blues for the third (but certainly not the last) time.  I like it, specially the last two songs (2 sisters drunk on each other and the title track).  They’ve been listening to the Ethiopiques compilations and it shows the most (a good thing) in these two songs (and several samples throughout the record).  They’re getting downright funky!  One cool thing about Califone: these guys have soul.  Highly recommended, but you need to listen to it several times to get it right.

Take it to Gooberland, Dan. We don't need film reviews clogging up the hectic weekend thread.

we saw the aforementioned film last night, and i didn't read the ending as being necessarily "happy."  i thought it was an honest admission of the difficulty of relationships, of the challenge of working through all that follows the initial endorphin rush of attraction.  i enjoyed all the performances, the script, and of course the visuals monsieur gondry delivered.

i had no idea david cross was in it until his name flashed on screen, and his birdhouse-building moment was perhaps the comedic highlight.

i kept sensing that people around us wanted to laugh more, but all in all it is not a funny flick.  i think the sight of jim carrey has conditioned audiences to expect nonstop hilarity.

the cornball confession: it made me treasure my happy memories even more.

I'm not going to do it...my daily internet exposure to millions of typos has warped me to the point that I can't remember how the words were originally spelled.
