I hope I can finagle my way into an autographed copy of S____'s book whenever it comes out.
Last night we ate dinner at the home of one of S_ _ _'s friends from highschool. It was her friend and her friend's hubby and another friend and her hubby + one friend's sis who graduated the year after me. Everybody there got completely trashed - everybody but me. Some drunk people are ok to be around - drunks who are still fun, recognize humor, wanna talk about interesting shit. These people weren't them. It seemed like almost everything anybody said made me cringe. And have you noticed that when some people get drunk their facial expression changes? All these people had stupid drunk faces. The friend's sister has had a problem with drinking so severe that she had marital problems and almost lost custody of her kids. She was drinking iced tea at the table, but kept going off to a room somewhere to drink in hiding. I have a really difficult time dealing with loud drunks who talk a bunch of shit I don't agree with. And when I feel like I need to voice my disagreement, I can't have a discussion because that person hears nothing or misunderstands everything I'm saying.
You guys aren't like that, right?

I hate being around S_ _ _ when she's drunk, and she's drunk every night. I don't know what I'm going to do about it, but I've gotten really sick of this situation. Maybe I need to get outta town for a few days.

I haven't been able to eat my special mystery sugar cube because I know she'll get drunk and ruin my trip. Plus, the whole situation around here has been such a bummer lately, that I don't think I'd have a good trip anyway.

That's a bad scene, Moe. Even if you don't leave town for a bit, you should just go somewhere on your own for an entire day, just for a breather. I've been known to go see three or four movies in a row when I need to be away from it all.
Here, maybe this'll make you laugh:

Here, maybe this'll make you laugh:
It brought a smile to my visage.
All day at the movies sounds like a good plan, but maybe it'd help her see how sick of this I am if I told her I had to get away from here for a few days
...and then actually followed through.

I'm really sorry to hear all of that shit is still going on, Moetown. I don't know what to say that I haven't already. I'm just sad for you, sad that S___ can't get her act together, sad that you have to deal with such an awful situation.
You know you could come visit me any time. I know you won't, but just a reminder that you're very welcome.
We all love ya, and are hoping this all works out for the best.

I figured that I could eat some shrimp with one of the husbands. I'd been over there before and had a decent time hanging out with him. Anyway, I ask him if he still has his pipe, and he says no, he quit doing that.
I walked in to his kid's room where the kid was playing Call of Duty 3. I asked him if he was looking forward to playing Call of Duty 4, and he said his parents wouldn't let him play that one because it's too violent.
