That sounds like something I would do. 'Cept tonight I am resisting the beer and just going to bed. Mommy had a big day.
Later, doooooods.

Cohen is back at it
Speaking of Jer, I woke this morning very excited, looking forward to a jam scheduled for tonight after work. This jam session would mark the return of the original guitarist of ganesha, someone I have not played with since the night my life came crashing down and I went crashing down from W____ and I's balcony. Prior to that incident we had not played regularly for four or so years, so it would be like a ten year reunion of the closest to a regular trio we ever had. Not only were we playing together for the first time in years, this would be the first time we played in an actual practice space.
None of this matters, as I would be quite happy with a regular jam, or ANYTHING, because I have not done anything with anyone in more than a month. I was hoping I would be in top form for this rare "social" occasion, but was somewhat distressed that I managed to get an injury on my left baby toe, incurred while working in my parents yard (which I do specifically because I have no life whatsoever), infected during a visit to a pool (which I was working at with children from the Hindu temple, apparently "volunteering" though I was originally told I would be paid). The pain increased as the hours passed and began to worry that my playing would be somewhat compromised by the irritation. I often marvel at my shit luck...at how whenever I try to enjoy life something manages to intervene and spoil it somewhat or entirely. After I finished my lunch I was hobbling around a bit and was now just agitated. I eventually convinced myself that I would be able to play fine, though I would not be able to be as fancy as I might like with the hi-hat. I promised myself that, as this was the first social
anything
in ages (well, unless you consider a meal I had to Nsplit on a week ago because of back pain, but I am only counting successful outings), that I could not let anything spoil my night.
All of this anxiety evaporated minutes later when I went out in the alley to throw some cardboard in the recycling bin and realized that someone had stolen my nice $600 bike.
I really fucking hate my life. It is not that my bike was stolen, it is that it fucking happened on a day where it could MAXIMIZE the emotional damage. Not counting helping my sister move, the last social event in my life was going to see her friend play at that Mutek thing on May 30th. And by social event I mean ANYTHING but seeing my father and mother around the house. Chilling at someone's house watching television, renting a movie...none of these things have happened. I did talk with Jeremy briefly on the phone a couple of weeks ago, but that was it.
It is the difference between bad timing and a curse.
Ok, dude, I just decided that I'm a dick 'cause I don't see you enough, and you don't deserve that. Wanna hangout one of these days? Sorry I didn't ask you sooner, but I've been really busy, baby and all. I think you'll like seeing her again, she's gotten really big and even cuter.
And fuck that bike: my fancy-schmancy italian bike cost me 80 bucks a decade ago. Scour craigslist and Kijiiji, and you'll find something just as nice for a lot less than 600 bucks.
