I gots to get busy doing something. I'm trying not to smoke anything during the day, but if I don't get involved in something, it gets really difficult. Maybe I'll actually go to a movie theater. I guess I could go back to bed and read til I fall asleep. It's hard to smoke when you're sleeping.

Thanks ickleez and tripp.   I ran the bass through an octavizer, then a distortion pedal, then a mooger-fooger.   I was afraid it sounded too New Bohemians, but y'all made me feel better.

Mac should do a commercial showing how much punishment their laptops can take like those old luggage commercials..

scientist: "look at the pounding this MAc is taking from pop-star kanye West"

cut to shot of furious West smashing his fists onto the keyboard "GRRRAARR GGRRRR!!!"

Funny.

I took S_ _ _ to have her tests done yesterday. She has something called diverticulosis, which I don't really wanna explain. She's supposed to meet with the doctor next week to discuss the results of her biopsy.

Bad news.  The things I read said a diet change is often all that's needed though...

In other news:

We watched Be Kind Rewind last night. Mos Def has turned out to be a really good actor. I friggin' love Michel Gondry.

I hate that Jack Black will be in something like Nacho Libre and that the studio will promote the fuck out of it, and then he's in this truly great film that completely flies under the radar.

Yeah, Mos Def was a real pleasant surprise.  Makes me want to watch Hitchhiker's Guide now.

...and I can't believe the way the studio just dumped that movie into theaters either.

Speaking of... I backtracked through yer link and found that New Bohemians cover. That actually sounds damned fine. Is that Thruster, too?

PMA's to Mrs. Moe. Digestive problems like that may be treatable, but they tax the fuck out of quality of life. In college, I had stomach pains so bad that at one point they thought I had Crohn's Disease. And then one day, they went away. Damnedest thing. But while I had them, life sure did suck.

But yeah, they fronted us all this money (and we worked out in our deal that we wouldn't owe anything back)  but then they flubbed almost every step of the process in trying to get a return on their investment.

I was like " well, Jim Woodring did the album cover, why don't you take an ad out in all the fantagraphics comics"  (which they often did)
BUT not for us.  Jim gave us a shout-out for free in his own comic but if it had been on the inside cover of Hate and Eightball etc...  it definitely would've moved some merch.

As it was I don't think they advertised anywhere!  And they blew  a shitload of money on a video that even they admitted would never get shown anywhere

And they picked the wrong single.

(red faced)

Yep, the Thruster autoharp player picked that song.   I kinda cringed at first, but it was actually fun to tackle a fairly dorky song.   My first few attempts were too obviously jokey, so that one I just tried to make it sound genuiine.   Glad you liked.

My friend (Josey's husband) was diagnosed with that a couple years ago. Nasty stuff, but yeah, manageable through diet. (Not "treatable," I don't think, but could be wrong.) He's not supposed to drink alcohol though he does (just no longer over-drinks alcohol, or as often). In any case, that's major suckage, Moetown.

Please pass along the PMAs from me, too, universe. Thanks.

Star Trek star-turned snapper Leonard Nimoy is rallying against the unrealistic portrayal of women in the media - with a new book of photographs of fuller-figured women.

The 77-year-old, who has launched a successful second career as a photographer, hopes The Full Body Project will help larger ladies come to terms with their bodies, and resist the pressure to slim.

He writes in the preface, "The average American woman weighs 25 per cent more than the models wearing the clothes marketed to her.

"There is a huge industry built up around selling women ways to get their bodies closer to a fantasy ideal.

"The women in these pages are proudly wearing their own skins. They accept and respect themselves and I hope that my images convey that feeling to others."
