Morning y'all.   I been home with A_____ this week.

Poor dude has been on antibiotics for 30 days to fight off a Lyme disease re-infection.

As soon as he was finished his whole body went red with hives.  And we've had to keep him home watching to make sure his throat didn't swell up and block his breathing.

Then last night his ankle swole up like a balloon  (telltale Lyme symptom).    So he's getting blood drawn right now and they have to figure out what to tackle and how, since the cure is just causing its own problems.

oy.   Undecided

Aw, brutal. Many mind atom to A_____!

Now playing on Crappitymax:

Battle Royale!

If you see only one crazy Japanese film featuring high school students abandoned on an island and forced to fight 'til the death, make it Battle Royale!

Yes.

I just bought $25 worth of fox urine from Amazon.com.

Apparently, spraying it around my yard will convince squirrels that a fox is lurking nearby, thus making them less likely to hang out in my yard digging up roots and shredding flowers, which should help keep them from ruining M______'s hard work out there.

Nope. Was reading some short stories out on the awesome back deck, and drinking sangria blanca. But now it's prematurely dark thanks to a looming storm, so... guess I could watch Battle Royale. Remember reading about that one...

Yeah, sure. That's what you're using the fox urine for.

Hey, Kurtis, 'sup?

The book I'm reading is a collection of short stories ("Self-Help," originally published in 1985 but not dated at all) by Lorrie Moore (now based in Madison, but from NYC from what I can gather from most of her story settings). Sad and joyous, and dark, and fucking (darkly) hilarious at once. Wish it was still nice outside. Now I feel like I'll be too tempted by the television set...

My friend Sara from Madison sent me the book after her visit here. Not only did she study under Lorrie Moore at U of Wisconsin, she thinks I'd have an affinity for this kind of story. And I do! Kurt, it ain't done yet, but remind me at some point to send you the Eleni story I'm working on. You seem to not-hate my stuff.

If my camera hadn't died yesterday afternoon, I would have had a most appalling follow up for that statement.
