Morning y'all.   I been home with A_____ this week.

Poor dude has been on antibiotics for 30 days to fight off a Lyme disease re-infection.

As soon as he was finished his whole body went red with hives.  And we've had to keep him home watching to make sure his throat didn't swell up and block his breathing.

Then last night his ankle swole up like a balloon  (telltale Lyme symptom).    So he's getting blood drawn right now and they have to figure out what to tackle and how, since the cure is just causing its own problems.

oy.   

aw man.  best of luck with that one, cap. the lyme's is a tricky bitch.  hard to diagnose accurately, and even harder to treat effectively.  but it is treatable.  i'll be thinking about ya. (and a_____ more specifically.)

The latest is that despite the obvious timing (coming right after an acute Lyme blood test) and an initial negative strep culture, the doctor is still completely convinced its strep in a "serum" phase (which can cause swelling of glands and joints).   So she ordered two more strep cultures and has us waiting til Friday.

I hope she's right, but I'm still kinda suspicious.

cheer up matthew!  those sheilas are notorious for being smitten with americans.  apparently austrailian dudes treat women like shit and when americans come to shore, they have to fight em off. (because we're known for our chivalry, see?) so go get you some u.s.a. gear and some hip sunglasses, knock on the door and when the austrailian chick shows up say something charming, like,   "oh my god.  you look just like olivia newton john.....PERFECT."   old p______ will have to wait til next summer to go down under.

The producers of cult U.S. comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live will pay tribute to late comedian George Carlin this coming weekend by re-airing the programme's 1975 debut, which the funnyman hosted.

Carlin died after suffering a heart attack on Sunday. He was 71.

In a tribute to the comic, SNL creator Lorne Michaels says, "He was gracious, fearless, and most of all, funny."
