Happy anniversary to everyone!

Except me.  I don't have any anniversaries today that I know of.

sad news.

And  if you didn't like him, that's fine. Just know that me and Chad at least were huge fans.

i especially likes the last decade of Carlin's comedy.  He seemed to be one of the few people who got what was going on in the world and expressed it perfectly.

WE"LL MISS YE GEORGE!

I was the first to come to George's defense when Matt called him a racist.

Hey, fuck off! (hahaha)

No, I never implied he was a racist in any way shape or form. I did use a hypothetical joke which happened to refer to rap music to illustrate my general opinion that George Carlin's material was not what it once was and that he now sounding more and more like a tired old man, an anachronism looking for something to be cynical about in a cynical world. I was too lazy to look up an actual example of his less than stellar latter day material and used the "Rap = crap" bit, hoping it would make sense. I was attempting to agree with what Jeffgocat had said aboot him.

I was aware it was a half-realized post and regretted it immediately. I attempted to make this clear by satirizing my poor choice of example by reiterating it while poking fun at Dan for being an old fuddy-duddy. This was instead interpreted as me being serious about the rap/crap line, which I then pmed you in an attempt to clear things up.

I dubbed most of the George Carlin albums  in my first year of college (I took them out of the library at the same time I was getting into the Giorno Poetry Systems stuff, but quickly dubbed over them as I began to collect more music. I was never a huge fan, because much of his material left me cold, but he sometimes served up absolute gold (like the bit about politicians not caring that was posted here), but I never said I did not like or respect Carlin. All I was trying to communicate was that I found his latter day stuff indiscernible from a lot of the more mediocre comics that were ripping his style off, decades after he honed it. Look at his bit on PC euphemisms - most of it sounds like real hackneyed observational standup...until some of his final remarks. This would have served a better example than the rap/crap thing which was just shorthand symbolism for "out of touch" with the jugular.
