You know, I always thought that a university education was supposed to mean that you were getting, well... Educated.  At least, that's my ideal of a university education: a way of acquiring a certain culture, of learning to think.  Maybe it was like that half a century ago, I don't know. But many of these little fuckers that I have to teach only go to university to get "trained", to get a job.  They know heaps about their particular specialization, but are complete ignoramuses concerning anything else.  They only pick up a book if they have to, and regard you as a freak if you know what they call "useless stuff", like history or philosophy.  And you should see the way they despise humanities students...  This crowd doesn't spend much time applying the old "know thyself" maxim.  I'm generalizing, of course.  But I have quite a few students that are like that.

so then i morphed into bass ale...and then me and the wifey got into an argument...she's always talking about the future...and i'm not talking "hey what are we doing tommorow"...i'm talking "what are we going to do with your mom and sisters when they get old?"

What? that's like fucking 30 years from now...i don't give a fucking rats ass right now! Jesus, my grandfather is 80 something and he's still doing his own thing...plus i'm drinking...why put them thoughts into my head...let's talk about something relevant...like...march madness...ahhhhh!!!

so i talked to my friend from college and he's even more fucked than ever...i think i'd have more luck interpreting chinese..the dude is just so wrecked everytime i talk to him....i still think he thinks it's 1989 and we just did a big bong hit and we're listening to dylan ask us "how does it feel?" before the flood.

by the end of the conversation he wanted to send me money for some reason...i just had to say goodbye.
