Supposedly, the new Bob Pollard record is good: ten shiny, well-produced, accessible power pop tunes that actually show a modicum of focused songwriting. Gonna have to find me some of that.

can't they come up with a "green" sandbag? All those plastic bags just can't be good for the environment.

yes i'm being a dick.

I'm a dick about the whole green thing...wanna know why...cause i was all into like in 1990..."leave nothing but footsteps"...keeping the scene clean.

well nobody gave a shit about it then...so you can all go fuck yourselves with your hybrids and canvas shopping bags.

I'm going to pour oil into rivers...oh wait that's too expensive...shit...i'm going to buy a bag full of plastic bags and just throw them out.

i'm going to print every damn email i get.

i'm going to turn on every light i see...not in my house...that would cost too much money.

i'm going outside and spraying all my spray cans....might even paint a tree or too...

speaking of trees, I'm going to clear cut my backyard.

And then for fun i'm just going to burn all the wood and throw a bunch of high gloss color magazines in there...they make the best colors when they burn anyways.

i liked about half of the last one (i say last one, knowing full well there are probably 8 more since then), and the takeovers record (bad football) was pretty cool in spots also..

Supposedly, Pollard swears that this will be his only 2008 release, that he considers this work that he wants to take some time and actually promote.

While I am inclined toward disbelief, I suppose it is possible that whatever it was that used to make him stop the train for a few months at a time to plug official GbV records has reared its head again.

my buddy's fairly compelling argument for Colin Powell as Obama's VP pick.

I thought he was crackers when he mentioned it at first, but there's something to it.
