Floods forced authorities to drain the Lake Delton dam into the Wisconsin River, wiping out the lake and much of this year's summer tourism in the Wisconsin Dells with it.

The Dells are nuts, but M______ and I had found a quiet little Polish-owned family hotel on Lake Delton that we liked to visit once a year. But apparently, the lake is just GONE. It's been declared a national disaster and they have no idea when it will be repaired.

Kind of sad.

I think I'm the one who posted that Morning Jacket on Letterman video.  I have enjoyed the live videos I've found, including the Austin City Limits set...but I had never heard an album before.

I checked out "It Still Moves" from the library recently and have been enjoying it.  There are a few tracks I find myself skipping, but on the whole good stuff.

I can handle MMJ in bits and pieces...like right now in the sweltering heat I could imagine cruising in the car and listening to "Wordless Chorus"

that beginning bass...the harmonies...the run at the end that morphs into elton john's benny and the jets...

That opening of that vid is dripping with Spinal Tapisms.

speaking of spinal tap-isms....  i found that vhs tape i mentioned the other day.  the one with "rock'n'roll nightmare" on it.  i watched most of it last night.  it turns out it is a dub of the entire criterion version with all the different "chapters" in order.  the shitty part is, and i had forgotten this, is that the tape runs out about 2/3rds of the way through "rock'n'roll nightmare".

Cheese or no, I'm a sucker for a little Highway Star. I even like the Faith No More version.
