A short biography of Buddha: he said a few vague interesting things and then he died.  After that, his followers made up a bunch of lies about him and what he said.  The end.

WOW, DO I HATE THE NEW MY MORNING JACKET RECORD.

A LOT.

Not surprised. I remember when I first heard of them I downloaded a bunch of stuff and then never got around to listening to a single entire album. At the time I thought it was just not the right time. Later on I saw Z at the library and took it home and other than a couple of moments I found myself not caring again. Not too long after that someone posted the David Letterman show clip and I liked it well enough, though I had more than enough of the  earnest/pretentious thing from my substantial Flaming Lips collection. But again I thought, "Perhaps it still wasn't the right time last time." and took out Z a second time. This time I decided, "No, this just doesn't do anything for me.". I downloaded that single last month and deleted it immediately. Didn't like it at all but do not remember it either. Sometimes that is best.

Rep. Kucinich introduces Bush impeachment resolution

WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a former Democratic presidential contender, said Monday he wants the House to consider a resolution to impeach President Bush.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi consistently has said impeachment was "off the table."

Kucinich, D-Ohio, read his proposed impeachment language in a floor speech. He contended Bush deceived the nation and violated his oath of office in leading the country into the Iraq war.

Kucinich introduced a resolution last year to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney. That resolution was killed, but only after Republicans initially voted in favor of taking up the measure to force a debate.

Kucinich won 50 percent of the vote in a five-way House Democratic primary in March, beating back critics who said he ignored business at home to travel the country in his quest to be president.

He is on right now: http://www.c-span.org/watch/cs_cspan_wm.asp?Cat=TV&Code=CS

Z has its merits, but The Tennessee Fire and At Dawn are classic records, much more southern, much more emotionally involving, much better hooks, much better singing. I want to be clear that my objections to the new record aren't objections to MMJ in general. Again: they no longer sound like the same band AT ALL. Z was a step in a different direction, but Evil Urges chucks everything they've ever done out the window.

Try this song instead: I Will Be There When You Die.

I did not do a very good job, but when I was attempting to describe a situation where, though I was not paying close attention, even I noticed that their sound had changed, which is why I opened with "Not surprised." I downloaded the first albums and was sorta dug what I actually got around to listening to and put them aside for a later date (I believe this was 2004 when I was still in drinky land), but when I got around to Z in 2006 I was simply underwhelmed and lost interest. Then I heard that single and basically thought that maybe it was more than just not my sound, and maybe they just sucked.

I don't hate them, but I like them less than I do Band off Horses and I only ever listen to this song of theirs:

I just don't understand how they went from a sort of Flaming Lips by way of Kentucky with some Neil Young mixed in kind of sound to 80s lite pop funk with jam band touches. I'm seriously pissed. And why oh WHY would he abandon that heartbreaking, reverb-drenched high lonesome singing style he had?

Band of Horses never did much for me. The sound is nice enough, but I never found the songwriting especially engaging.
