I'm finally feeling "normal" again. I've actually got errands to run today, so I'm gonna get 'em ootta the way early.

We watched Control last night - that flick about Ian Curtis. Pretty entertaining, but of course somewhat depressing, too. The guy who played the lead role was good. The music was good too. The actors played all the concert scenes themselves.

If you only burn 107 calories during 30 minutes of fucking, you're not doing it right.

That reminds me of a Timothy Ferris story (and a Red Dwarf episode) where time flows backwards: people jump out of coffins and get younger; WWII was a joyous event: millions came back to life; Hitler is a hero: he liberated Poland; most doctors are bastards: you get sick after consulting them...

Niiiiice:

Turn Me Up!™ is a non-profit music industry organization campaigning to give artists back the choice to release more dynamic records. To be clear, it's not our goal to discourage loud records; they are, of course, a valid choice for many artists. We simply want to make the choice for a more dynamic record an option for artists.

Today, artists generally feel they have to master their records to be as loud as everybody else's. This certainly works for many artists. However, there are many other artists who feel their music would be better served by a more dynamic record, but who don't feel like that option is available to them.

This all comes down to the moment a consumer hears a record, and the fear that if the record is more dynamic, the consumer won't know to just turn up the volume. This is an understandable concern, and one Turn Me Up! is working to resolve.

I like Z well enough. Preferred their country-er stuff, but I liked the songwriting and found the new direction interesting.

But seriously, go to MMJ's MySpace and listen to the weird Prince/Cameo-isms of "Highly Suspicious" and tell me what the fuck happened to the guys who wrote "The Way He Sings."
